ACPR (French Prudential Supervision and Resolution Authority)

The ACPR (Autorité de contrôle prudentiel et de résolution), the French prudential supervisor, is the French administrative authority attached to the Banque de France, the French central bank, which licenses and supervises banks, payment institutions, insurers and intermediaries. It monitors their financial soundness, but also their business conduct and their anti-money laundering framework. Its sanctions committee can issue warnings and reprimands, impose financial penalties and bans from practising, and its decisions are published. For an obliged entity, the ACPR is the authority before which it must be able to justify its risk classification and each of its customer due diligence decisions.
