Constat de complaisance (collusive accident report)

A constat de complaisance is a constat amiable, the amicable accident report used in France, completed deliberately falsely and with the agreement of both parties, in order to declare an accident that never happened or to misrepresent its circumstances. It triggers an undue payout. The notion belongs to French insurance law and practice and has no literal counterpart in other markets. It is a typical marker of organised fraud rings, which detection seeks to spot by cross checking identities, vehicles and claims history.
