Document fraud
Document fraud consists in producing a supporting document that does not reflect reality: an altered identity document, an inflated payslip, a fabricated tax notice, altered bank account details, an expired Kbis extract, the French company registration certificate, presented as current. Three forms can be distinguished. Falsification alters a genuine document, forgery fabricates one from scratch, and the use of another person's document borrows a real document belonging to someone else. Generative AI tools have considerably lowered the barrier for the second form. The answer is not to look at the image more closely, but to stop depending on it: read the document's chip, and cross check every piece of information against its source of origin.
