Proprietary AI refers to a vendor developing and training its own models rather than calling a third party's service. There are three practical consequences, often decisive in compliance. The training data and the processed data do not leave for a third party, which simplifies the mapping of processors required by the GDPR. The model is trained on real cases from the field, here fraud and creditworthiness, rather than on a general-purpose corpus. And the vendor can explain and document its decisions since it controls the model, which Article 22 of the GDPR and the European AI regulation make necessary. Meelo's models fall into this category.
