Companies House filings

The liasse fiscale, a French company's annual tax and accounting filing, brings together the accounting and tax documents it declares each year to the authorities: balance sheet, income statement and supporting schedules. It is the most complete source for assessing its real financial health, well beyond a registration extract. It shows revenue, profit, equity, debt and cash position. Two precautions: the information is annual, and therefore lags behind the current situation, and some companies exercise their right to keep their accounts confidential, which makes the filing publicly unavailable. Its absence is not a warning sign in itself, but it removes one element of assessment.
