NLP (Natural Language Processing)

NLP (Natural Language Processing) covers the techniques that allow a program to interpret text written by humans. In financial analysis, its main use is reading bank transaction labels, which are short, abbreviated, inconsistent from one bank to another and often truncated. NLP makes it possible to attach a label to a category and to a real originator. It also serves to extract information from unstructured documents, for example articles of association. Its advantage over simple rules is its tolerance for variants, which it would be impossible to list by hand.
