Misappropriation of funds

Misappropriation of funds means unlawfully taking sums entrusted to a person or an organisation. In companies it often takes the form of payment fraud: a fake payment order, CEO fraud, or a fraudulent change to a supplier's bank details. Prevention relies on verification of payee (VOP), checks on the authenticity of bank details and traceability of approvals.
